The size 16-22 mm is a slightly larger stone size that stays firmly in place. 16-22 mm means that the stones are between 16 and 22 mm on their smallest side, so be aware that they can be up to 40-45 mm on the longest side. Where Do Granite Chippings 16-22 mm Come From?

For both products, the chippings are made from crushed rock material. In the granite quarries, large rocks are blasted into big chunks. These large chunks are then crushed in machines into smaller pieces, known as chippings, and finally sorted into different sizes/fractions. The smallest is stone dust 0-2 mm, then 2-5 mm, and so on.

How Thick Should a Layer of Black Granite Chippings 16-22 mm Be?

For larger chippings, we recommend laying a 7 cm layer. The larger the stone or chipping, the thicker the layer required to cover your area properly. Therefore, you should apply a 7 cm layer of black granite chippings 16-22 mm, which will also look stunning.

Where to Use Large Granite Chippings?

More and more people are using 16-22 mm chippings in their driveways. With this size, you can be sure that it won't get stuck in tires, which is an advantage as it prevents the chippings from being pulled out of the area by cars. 16-22 mm is also commonly used on gentle slopes, in garden beds, along house walls, etc.

Granite Chippings Against Weeds

If you want a weed-free area, these granite chippings are an excellent choice. The best way to set up your garden bed with chippings, to make it as weed-resistant as possible, is by first laying down a weed barrier over the area. Then add a 3 cm layer of black stone dust, which should be compacted with a plate compactor, followed by 6-7 cm of black chippings. Ideally, these should also be compacted. This is the best solution, providing a perfect result.

It is also a good option to simply lay a weed barrier and place the black granite chippings on top. This is a decent solution.

Our Standard Delivery Called "Sidewalk/Driveway"

One of our skilled drivers will come to your location and place the product by the curb, on the sidewalk, or just at the entrance of your driveway. This delivery method is included in the price.

Delivery with Special Truck (Forklift)

One of our drivers will bring a mobile forklift to you. This can be detached from the truck and drive the maxibag down gravel roads, into allotment gardens, over stones, chippings, gravel, deep into your driveway, etc. It is a very practical delivery method that helps many customers get their products close to where they need them. Just leave a description in your order of where the product should be placed, and the driver will receive this information and place it accordingly. You do not need to be at home to provide placement instructions.

Delivery with a Crane

We can also deliver granite chippings using a crane, which is useful if the product needs to be placed over a fence, hedge, gate, etc. In this case, choose delivery with a crane.

Please note that large crane trucks require ample space. There must be a clearance height of 4.5 meters and a width of 4 meters from the main road to the final address. The crane truck can reach a maxibag 7-8 meters away from the truck.
