How thick should the layer be?

For this size of white granite chippings, we recommend laying a 5 cm layer. This means that 1 m³ covers 20 m². Especially in a driveway, it's important not to make the layer thicker, as cars could get stuck. It's important to cover the ground, but there's no need to add more than necessary. The angular stones will pack together to create a solid surface.

White Granite Chippings vs Weeds

If you walk or drive regularly on granite chippings, the sharp edges will make it difficult for weeds to grow. In areas without traffic, it can be helpful to rake occasionally. However, you can make life much easier by laying a weed barrier under the chippings. You can buy a good-quality weed barrier here on the site when placing an order. Here, you get a durable quality, meaning a thick fabric that blocks most of the weeds coming from below.

Another solution is to lay white stone dust under the chippings. In addition to providing a nice base, stone dust is highly effective against weeds. A combination of a weed barrier and stone dust is naturally the best solution and will save you a lot of work once it's laid.

Granite chippings are heavy. 1 m³ weighs 1500 kg, so it’s important to have them delivered as close to where they’re needed as possible. Therefore, we offer several different delivery options.

Delivery to Sidewalk/Driveway

Forklift Delivery

You can also choose to have them delivered by forklift. This truck is only 2.5 meters wide and can turn in very tight spaces. It's an ideal solution if you want the chippings delivered directly onto your property. It’s also a good solution if you live in an area, such as a garden association, where the roads are too narrow for a large truck. The truck can easily drive 100 meters and can handle most surfaces.

Crane Delivery

The last delivery option is crane delivery, which you should choose if you want the big bag lifted over a hedge or fence. Again, you can save yourself a lot of heavy lifting by choosing this option.

Be aware that the large crane trucks require good space. The route from the main road to the delivery address must have a clearance of 4.5 meters in height and 4 meters in width. The crane truck can lift a maxibag 7-8 meters away from the truck.
