Grey granite chippings in the 5-8 mm size are the smallest variant of granite chippings and have an elegant and modern look. These fine pieces of crushed natural stone, which come from Sweden, are produced by extracting rock material and grading it into different sizes. The grey shade gives a timeless look that has become very popular in Denmark for both decorative and functional purposes.

Recommended layer thickness

Due to the small size, a relatively thin layer is enough to achieve an attractive and uniform result. We recommend laying a layer of approx. 4 cm. This means that 1000 kg of granite chippings covers around 14 m², while 1500 kg can cover up to approx. 25 m². This ensures the area is nicely covered without the granite chippings losing their decorative effect.

Areas of use

Grey granite chippings 5-8 mm are incredibly versatile and can be used in a range of settings such as garden beds, footpaths, courtyards and other outdoor areas where you want a clean and natural look. They are easy to work with and require minimal maintenance. However, we recommend avoiding this size in driveways, as the small stones can easily end up in car tyres and cause problems.

Granite chippings and weeds

To minimise weed growth, we recommend laying a weed membrane under the granite chippings. An effective method is to spread a 3 cm layer of grey stone dust, then cover it with a 4 cm layer of grey granite chippings. This combination provides a robust and long-lasting solution that both reduces weeds and enhances the aesthetic appeal.

Colour and weight of granite chippings

The grey colour expresses a natural and understated beauty that changes depending on light and weather conditions. In damp conditions, the granite chippings appear in a deeper shade, while in dry weather they look lighter. The product weighs approx. 1500 kg per m³ (1000 litres).

In the large granite quarries, advanced machinery is used to break down the large rocks, creating a robust natural product with no lime content. This property makes granite chippings ideal for a wide range of uses, from asphalt and concrete production to coastal protection and railway ballast.

We also call this delivery method "pavement / driveway". Choose this delivery method if you want the goods placed by the road, on the pavement or a maximum of one metre inside your driveway.

Mobile forklift

Our skilled driver brings a mobile forklift to you. This special forklift runs on pneumatic tyres and is almost an all-terrain vehicle, making it great for deliveries to many places. The driver takes the forklift off the lorry and can drive this self-propelled forklift down paths in allotments, down gravel roads, onto back plots and on all kinds of surfaces such as granite chippings, pea gravel, hardcore and dry lawns.

Crane delivery

Here our skilled driver brings a lorry with a mounted crane to you. Choose this delivery method if you would like your granite chippings lifted over a fence or a hedge, or other places where the maxibag needs to be lifted over something.

Please note that the large crane lorries need plenty of space. All the way from the main road to the delivery address, there must be a clearance height of 4.5 metres and a width of 4 metres. The crane lorry can reach a maxibag 6-8 metres away from the lorry.
