Grobund™ raised bed soil.
Grobund™ raised bed soil is the best product for your raised bed. Grobund™ raised bed soil stands out from other products because it has been enriched with the best Danish soil conditioners. And the soil conditioners in Grobund™ raised bed soil are exclusively natural products.
- Grobund™ raised bed soil contains moler soil, which is produced on the island of Mors and is a unique product made from the internationally renowned moler clay. This soil has the fantastic ability to absorb and store fertiliser and water. In this way, plants can draw nutrients from the soil as needed. The moler soil in Grobund™ raised bed soil also gives a lovely structure, so you avoid heavy, sticky raised bed soil.
- Grobund™ raised bed soil contains healthy Danish screened topsoil from East Jutland.
- Grobund™ raised bed soil contains a natural soil conditioner (mushroom compost) from Funen. This soil conditioner contains plenty of natural fertiliser, as mushroom compost is composted horse manure enriched with many unique nutrients that provide an excellent foundation for plants.
- Grobund™ raised bed soil contains sharp sand from Central Jutland and natural fertiliser, which is a mix of animal manure and shredded straw.
Grobund™ raised bed soil is the best product you can offer your plants, and it provides the foundation for beautiful vegetables and plants.
Our raised bed soil is 100% slug-free.
Raised bed soil – which plants?
Raised bed soil can be used for almost all types of plants and vegetables. It is full of good nutrients and is a place where plants thrive. You can sow seeds of various flowers/vegetables directly into it, and you can plant pre-sprouted or mature plants directly into it. This soil is pre-mixed in a carefully measured ratio. For plants that require very acidic soil and therefore a low pH, we recommend using peat (sphagnum), as it has a low pH.
Raised bed soil – how much?
We normally recommend that our customers use at least 25 cm of this soil in a raised bed. It is important that the plants' roots have plenty of room downwards in the soil, so it is good to have a generous layer. Of course, it is fine to add more than 25 cm, but we recommend this as a minimum. If you have very large plants with a more demanding root system, you will need more than 25 cm, as some plants' roots go deeper than 25 cm. It is important to know the plant you are planting and to find out how deep its root system goes. The roots should ideally be in the raised bed soil so they can absorb the nutrients the plant needs.
Difference between topsoil and raised bed soil
Both soils are excellent for planting in and working with. The big difference between these soil types is that raised bed soil is designed to retain water better. Raised beds tend to dry out faster than normal beds, so they need a soil that holds moisture particularly well. We have designed it so that it acts as a moisture reservoir, allowing your plants to absorb both moisture and nutrients as needed. This is important for achieving the perfect conditions for your plants.
Raised bed soil in bulk bags and delivery
We always deliver our raised bed soil in bulk bags / maxibags in various sizes. We offer everything from 1000 litre to 1700 litre bulk bags, and you are free to choose the bag size you want. It is very practical to have the soil delivered in these maxibags, as the soil is in a bag that you can use over several sessions if you wish. We always place it neatly where you want it, so it is not in the way for you or others. It is important to place the goods as close as possible to where you will use them. That is why we offer several delivery options, so you can choose the delivery solution that suits you best. Here you can read about the different options.
Kerbside / driveway delivery
Choose this option if the goods can be placed by the road, on the pavement or just a metre into your driveway. Our skilled drivers will place it within this area as you wish – simply add a description in your order of where the driver should place the goods, and he will do so, so you do not need to be at home to show the placement.
Delivery by mobile forklift
This option is ideal if you need the raised bed soil driven down a gravel road, into an allotment garden, into a driveway with gravel, stones or shingle, or onto grass during dry periods. It is a self-propelled forklift on pneumatic tyres that the driver brings along and uses for unloading. We have received a lot of praise for this delivery method, as it simply works well in many places.
Crane delivery
This delivery method is ideal when the goods need to be lifted over something. It could be if you need the raised bed soil lifted over a fence, over a hedge – even a tall one – or other places where the goods need to be lifted over something. The driver arrives with a lorry fitted with a crane and unloads as you wish. He can normally place the goods approx. 6-8 metres from the lorry.
